The US remains one of the most popular destinations for British newlyweds considering booking their honeymoon, having come fifth in Kuoni’s top five list.

This is according to Frances Tuke, a spokesperson for Abta – the Travel Association, who said that the country has a lot to offer couples.

Ms Tuke also said that Florida is a less obvious honeymoon destination but a "fantastic" place for couples to fly to, which could make a property in Florida a wise investment.

"It’s got the warm seas, fantastic white beaches, as well as Disneyland and all the theme parks that perhaps you wouldn’t think of as a honeymoon destination," she said.

The expert also claimed that America is the number one long-haul destination for British travellers.

Her comments come after Caxton FX revealed that overseas weddings are growing in popularity, with about one in six people from the UK choosing to tie the knot abroad.
