A company that specialises in French property has said that October has been its busiest month of 2008.

VEF stated that the month has seen the areas of Charente and the Hautes-Alpes in Provence topping the sales list.

The Charente office has seen a 60 per cent rise since the same time last year, partly due to the increase in accessibility brought about by more low cost flights into Angouleme airport this year.

VEF representative Dan Brewer said prices in the region are "exceedingly good value for money".

He also stated that the Haute-Provence region has some attractively priced property, including a four-bed chalet just sold for €300,000 (£236,000).

Francois Xavier de Vial, the co-founder of French real estate firm home-hunts.com, told French property news earlier this month: "Contrary to what some people think, now is still a good time to buy French property."
