Las Fallas takes place every March in Valencia, attracting around two million people to the city.

Anyone who is planning to find a property in Spain with a passion for the festival atmosphere may find Valencia to be an ideal location.

With five days of bonfires, fireworks and explosions in honour of St Joseph, the festival is not for the faint-hearted. The city is filled with handcrafted paper mache figures and portraits of local and international celebrities.

The festival’s main event is the burning of these effigies on the final night of celebrations. The sculptures and statues, which have often taken weeks for local families to create, are set alight and left to burn into the night.

Naturally, the loud explosions and casual fires dotted around the streets mean there are ambulances waiting on standby throughout Las Fallas.

Valencia is the country’s third largest city with a population of 796,549 people and lies on the Mediterranean coast of Spain.
