A writer has spoken out about his choice to move from London to a property in France, praising his decision and noting the change in his lifestyle now he lives on the continent.

Writing for the Telegraph, newspaper columnist Michael Wright noted that despite having a number of passions in life, he realised one day that he had not pursued many of his dreams due to fear. After realising this, Mr Wright said he "moved – lock, stock and barrel-shaped cat – to the French countryside", spurred on by "twin fears" of going abroad and being alone.

He has documented his life in a property in France in a column for the newspaper and noted that during his time overseas, he has learnt to fly a Tiger Moth plane, make a sawhorse and deliver a baby.

Mr Wright expressed "a sense of wonder" at how much his life in a property in France has benefited him.

Falls in the price of global property could make now an ideal time for Brits to make a move to a property in France.
