It is "no surprise" that France recently came top of a poll of the best places to live in Europe for quality of live, it has been said.

Commenting after the country was voted best place to live in Europe, with Spain second, overseas property expert Alistair Lockhart said that the findings were not a surprise to those who live and work in the country.

"Health and welfare are priorities in a country where there is still plenty of land and space and population density on average is low," he noted.

As well as this, the market for French property is stable and has "no historic peaks and troughs", he said.

Mr Lockhart also went on to say that during September and October, the French property market has seen much interest from Brits looking to invest in homes in the country.

Recent figures have shown that French property prices are not falling as fast as they once were, which could make now an ideal time for Brits to invest.
