Brits thinking of investing in Spanish property could find a visit to a travel conference in the country helpful in assisting them with choosing the best area to buy a home in.

The Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) Conference opened on Monday (October 5th) in Barcelona, an area popular for Brits buying Spanish property.

The event has been held in Spain for the past four years in a row, with conference attendees travelling to Gran Canaria last year.

Director of the Spanish Tourist Office Ignacio Vasallo said: "The relationship between Spain and the UK travel industry is a key priority for the Spanish Tourist Office and we are delighted that Barcelona has been chosen as the venue for one of the UK travel industry’s most important events."

Spain is traditionally a very popular destination among British travellers.

Editor at A Place in the Sun Magazine Richard Way recently noted that British tourists are keen to return to countries which they have visited and know well – which could see more people buying Spanish property.
