French property located in lesser-known ski destinations could be in line for a tourist boost this season, it has been claimed.

Brits looking to cut costs on their ski break are shunning the big resorts in favour of alternative locations, which could apparently prove welcome news to those with French property in areas such as Le Praz.

Vanessa Fisher, spokesperson for the Ski Club of Great Britain, said: "I think the smaller French resorts will be more popular [this year].

"People might opt to stay in the cheaper resorts … [and] you’ve also got Le Praz which still has access to Courchevel or Le Sorbiers."

Ms Fisher also provided some potential good news for Italy property owners, stating that the country also provides good value for money ski resorts in areas such as Cortina and Courmayeur.

In March the Ski Club of Great Britain announced that snow conditions in the Alps and Pyrenees region are expected to be as good as they have been for 25 years in 2009.
