A new Portugal property development has opened in the heart of one of the country’s most famous wine regions.

The Aquapuro Douro Valley will consist of 17 luxury villas, set on eight hectares of land, with each Portugal property offering a stunning view across the Douro River, as well as a nearby resort hotel and spa, according to homesgofast.com.

Lovers of Portuguese wine will be interested to know that this particular Portgual property complex is situated in a former vineyard and estate, known as the Quinta de Bale Abraao.

Wine has been produced in this new Portugal property hotspot for almost 2,000 years, which contributed to the region being named a Unesco World Heritage site eight years ago, the website reports.

Douro Valley is known as "the home of port wine", and can be visited by Portugal property-hunters via a scenic riverside road running between Peso da Regua and Pinhao.
