The cut-back in the number of low cost airline services may have beneficial effects for the property markets of Spain, France and Portugal, it has been stated.

Such traditional markets have faced more competition in recent times, but the reduction in flights due to the economic situation will mean that more of the concentration of services will focus on established areas, Property Wire reports.

This means that those looking to buy in areas such as the Costa del Sol property market should still have plenty of flights and demand may increase due to the better accessibility of such traditional popular locations.

People looking for Canary Islands property will be among those who benefit from the trend as Monarch Airlines has said it will increase flights there in the Christmas period, reports travel weekly.

However the airline, which is also to increase its flights to mainland Spanish destinations, said it was not planning to replace all the routes flown by failed tour operator XL Airways as some of these are not currently profitable.
