French property firm VEF has said that the country is the best place in Europe in which to invest in property at present.

The firm said the advantages the country has are many at this current time, stating that France is still enjoying economic growth, with no prospect of imminent recession.

It also stated that the French banks are not in trouble with bad mortgage debts due to their stricter lending practices preventing the sort of problems experienced elsewhere, while the property market itself is seeing stable prices.

VEF advised that stone cottages are the best properties to invest in at the moment, which are most plentiful in the southern Limousin and northern Dordogne

Limousin is one of the regions in France that Britons are expected to buy a lot of property in this autumn, Sextant Properties has predicted.

It has also tipped Brittany property to be popular as well.
