Girona has been recommended as the perfect location for golf lovers seeking Spanish property.

The city of Girona offers Spanish property investors a host of attractions with widespread tourist appeal, while a new apartment complex at PGA Golf de Catalunya may prove impossible to resist for Spanish property lovers, the Telegraph reports.

Project manager Oriol Mateu tells the newspaper: "Rather than the big white houses you often see around Spanish golf courses, the properties here will be rural Catalan in style, with Arab clay tile roofs, dry stone walls and verandas."

The championship-level course in Caldes de Malavella, near Girona, proved its worth recently when it played host to this year’s Spanish Open.

Further attractions of the Girona area for Spanish property seekers and holiday-makers alike include magnificent beaches, the city’s medieval Jewish quarter and the Michelin-starred El Bulli restaurant on the Costa Brava, according to the newspaper.

Thomas Levin made history at this year’s Spanish Open gold tournament by becoming the first ever Frenchman to win five titles on the PGA European Tour.
