The island of Mallorca is the best property market in the whole of Spain, experts in the country have said.

Experts on the Spain property scene Spanish Hot Properties told UK website Bye Bye Blighty that the island has seen an improvement in its reputation in recent years, being perceived as increasingly upmarket and experiencing a rise in demand for property, Homes Worldwide reports.

This includes a large number of UK buyers, with 19,000 Britons living permanently on the island and 60,000 more having second homes there.

Furthermore, while the number of new builds is down overall across Spain, planning approvals have increased on the island, which does not suffer the excess of building suffered in certain localities.

The comments by the experts at Spanish Hot Property are not the only piece of evidence offered recently to show that Mallorca is doing well.

Earlier this month figures from property portal Globescene showed that the number of online searches for property on the island has risen in the past year, with Mallorca and Tenerife emerging as more popular than mainland destinations.
