Considering a French property in Corsica may be one way to avoid the tourist hordes.

According to the Times, the French island will offer value for money for Brits who want to take a nosey around the island before committing to buying a property.

Travel company Holiday Options has a lower-than-half price three star hotel on offer this week – Hotel St Christophe – and flights from Manchester or Gatwick with a week’s bed and breakfast for four people costs £399. This will jump to £499 from July 19th.

Away from the beautiful beaches, sights to be viewed on the island include the ancient town of Corte in the centre of Corsica which boasts a 15th-century fortress, or perhaps Calvi which has a walled citadel and overlooks a busy port.

This week, Duncan Bannatyne – entrepreneur and Dragon’s Den judge – revealed his own French property to the Sunday Times.
