It’s Ryder Cup time again, when Europe’s best golfers take on the USA team. So we have picked four championship courses that also score highly for property. Just keep your eyes peeled when you’re viewing them. Fore!

ChampionsGate, Florida
Boasting two championship courses, ChampionsGate is one of Central Florida’s premier resorts, just 15 minutes from Disney World. The National and International are both Greg Norman signature courses, the former a more resort/parkland style course and the latter a links course. ChampionsGate has extensive leisure and retail facilities, with property grouped into small, gated communities. This fully-furnished detached house within the resort has eight bedrooms, enough for the whole European team if they don’t mind sharing. For more info, including price, click on the image.

Golf Valley, Spain
Dubbed the Costa del Golf, Spain’s Costa del Sol is awash with quality golf courses; some easy and some suited to the most experienced professionals. From Sotogrande near Gibraltar, home to the famous Valderrama championship course, to the Cala Golf urbanisation near Fuengirola, there is something for everyone. The Nueva Andalucia area, just inland from Puerto Banus, is especially popular with British homeowners. It is also known as Golf Valley, with much of it built around three quality courses – Las Brisas, Aloha and Naranjos – all within five minutes of each other. Golf views don’t get much better than those from the terrace of this apartment in Golf Valley.

Golden Triangle, Portugal
The Algarve is home to the world-class ‘Golden Triangle’ resorts of Vilamoura, Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago, each offering championship courses and popular with British homeowners. This year is the 50th anniversary of the first golf course opening in the Algarve, namely Penina in Portimão. Since then, the Algarve has hosted the Portuguese Open no fewer than 23 times, as well as 35 tournaments on the European Tour and Senior Tour. For an idea of how popular the Algarve has become with golfers, a record 1.2 million rounds of golf were played there in 2015 and early indications suggest 2016 is set to continue on a similar path. Looking ahead, a mega new development phase is planned for Vilamoura, so now could be good time to buy. To browse property there, click here.

Belek, Turkey
Value for money, world-class courses and a steady increase in the hosting of high profile events, including a PGA Open, have promoted Turkey’s status as a world-class golf destination in recent years. According to accountancy firm KPMG’s Golf Travel Insights (2013) report, Turkey is the fourth most popular golf travel destination in the world, after Spain, Portugal and Scotland. Turkey’s golfing hub is a resort called Belek, located near Antalya on the country’s Mediterranean coast and previously voted ‘Europe’s Best Golf Destination’ at the Golf Magazine Awards. Belek is home to around a dozen championship courses, including the Montgomerie Maxx Royal Club and Antalya Club. This three-bedroom villa is typical of what’s available in Belek.
