One such occasion will be next month’s Madrid Masters tennis tournament, which runs from October 11th to the 19th.

Amid a number of Spanish sporting successes this year Rafael Nadal has stood out, winning the French Open, Wimbledon and an Olympic gold medal as well as ousting Roger Federer as the World number one player.

He will be a star of the show alongside many other big names in the event.

As well as offering major sporting events such as the tennis, Madrid has come highly recommended as a buyer destination for Spain propertyy hunters.

Writing recently in the Daily Telegraph, former estate agent Lorna Vestey recommended the city as a place where buying a property is a "safe investment" for UK buyers.
