Who would have thought that expats were such an adventurous bunch? Well, a recent survey conducted by an international medical insurer has revealed that expats like nothing more than getting their blood pumping with an extreme sport or two.

Although in no way suggesting that all expats like to don parachutes and jump out of planes at 14,000ft, it reveals that those who decide to embark on a move abroad are also more likely to enjoy adrenaline sports. 51 per cent of recipients to the survey said that they would enjoy extreme sports. This is an increase of 10 per cent on the number of self-confessed adrenaline junkies in the same survey this time last year.

So exactly what kinds of activities are popular with the adventurous expats out there? The survey revealed that they like nothing more than to try their hand at off-piste skiing, kitesurfing, rock climbing, quad biking and scuba diving.

Having these interesting results revealed to us only further demonstrates the importance of factoring health insurance into your budget when you move abroad. Who knows – maybe as soon as you land you too will be heading to the first bungee jumping site you see or booking yourself in for that surfing lesson!
