The number of searches on Rightmove Overseas for Playa Blanca, one of three main resorts in Lanzarote, increased at a higher rate than other destinations tracked by the UK’s leading property portal during August.

Playa Blanca, in the south of the island, is a friendly family resort with a long seafront promenade and smart marina. It has its own beaches near the centre but just a 15-minute drive away, situated in the Los Ajaches nature park and with a dramatic volcanic backdrop, is one Lanzarote’s prettiest beaches, Papagayo.

“Property in Playa Blanca caters for all budgets, and ranges from chic £1million villas to convenient holiday villas for around £150,000, and centrally located apartments typcailly anything from £70,000 upwards,” said Richard Way, editor of the Overseas Guides Company.

Lanzarote’s two other main resorts are Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise, the latter being towards the windier north of the island so popular with wind and kite surfers. “For the truly spectacular beaches, like Papagayo, be prepared to head a bit off the beaten track, “ adds Richard. “Other examples in the north include Famara, La Garita and Caletón Blanco while just south of Puerto del Carmen further south is Playa Quemada.”
