This month sees low-cost airline Ryanair launch six new routes out of Mallorca’s Palma Airport.

The airline now flies daily to Cologne, thrice weekly to Rome Ciampino, Porto in Portugal and Malmo in Sweden, twice weekly to Groningen in The Netherlands and once a week to Smaland in Sweden. The increase in flights shows that the island remains an incredibly popular destination for foreign holiday makers and property investors.

Mallorca has the highest overseas resident population in the whole of Spain (26 per cent) which means that one person in five hails from foreign shores. There is a broad spectrum of nationalities that call the island home ranging from British to Scandinavians, Germans to Italians. This mix of nationalities, combined with strict planning laws, is thought to be what makes the property market on the Balearic so resilient.

These new flights are already proving popular amongst Mallorca’s foreign residents, second home owners and tourists and are encouraging more and more people to consider the island as a great place to set up home or invest in rental property.
