Expats were out in force at the annual Christmas bazaar in the Turkish city of Antalya at the end of November, proof that the southern region is becoming increasingly popular with British people.

The event, a highlight in the calendar of many expats and organised by the International Women’s Group of Antalya, is a good example of a British custom integrated into an overseas community, attracting expats and Turks alike. While it includes stalls selling all types of wares, the main attractions are organised by the expat community and include raffles, a tombola, jumble, café, second-hand clothes stall and kids’ corner. All money raised by the event is donated to local charities.

The Antalya region includes the popular resorts of Side, Alanya, the golf hub of Belek and city of Antalya itself. It has one of the busiest airports in the Mediterranean and is also popular with Germans and Scandinavians.
