  1. Ironman Florida. Not something many Brits would brave doing in November, Ironman Florida is free for participants, and takes place at Panama City Beach. The annual event this year ran from noon to midnight on November 3.
  2. Annual Florida Seafood Festival. Said to be Florida’s oldest maritime event, the festival is held on the first weekend of November in the historic town of Apalachicola in Franklin County. It celebrates the region’s rich association with seafood, and includes food, music, entertainment and arts and crafts.
  3. First Friday Art Walk. Held on the first Friday of every month, the walk takes in 15 galleries in St. Augustine, as well as local entertainment and refreshments.
  4. Key West World Championship Powerboat Races. If you’ve got the need for speed, this yearly event is sure hit the spot! The event, which celebrates its 32nd year this month, includes races and a powerboat parade.
  5. West Palm Beach Antiques Festival. To recount a famed British past-time, head to the South Florida Fairgrounds to meander through one of Florida’s largest antiques fairs.
  6. Epcot International Food and Wine Festival. Walt Disney World is also home to this renowned festival, which includes celebrity chefs, cooking demonstrations, seminars, taste testing and the Eat to the Beat concert series.
  7. Fall Fiesta in the Park. Lake Eola Park in downtown Orlando is home to this annual autumn festival, showcasing the work of some 600 artists, jewellers, photographers and sculptors, as well as offering food and live music.
  8. Quiksilver “King of the Peak” Surf Contest. See first-hand some of the best surfers from the US, Caribbean and South America compete at Sebastian Inlet State Park.
  9. Jazz Friday at Fossaner Museum of Art. Melbourne. It’s not Melbourne, Australia, but Melbourne, Florida, that is home to the Fossaner Museum of Art. On the third Friday of every month, the museum showcases the work of local jazz musicians among its galleries.
  10. Festival of Lights at Fishermen’s Village. Marking the official start of the Christmas shopping season in Punta Gorda, south-west Florida, the Festival of Lights sees more than 1 million lights and displays lit in sequence, as well as an official ribbon-cutting ceremony. It runs from mid-November through to New Year’s Eve.
