One Day campaign

What if you could make your one day move, today?

Everyone has a ‘one day’ move. It will happen ‘one day’ because that’s when you’ll finally get around to it; when the kids have left home, when work quietens down, when you’ve finished decorating, or when you retire.

With so many reasons to wait, it’s no wonder time passes and we’re still no nearer to making our ‘one day’ dreams happen.

But what if your ‘one day’ could  be today?

Our new campaign is all about celebrating the dream that we all have — that ‘one day could be today’. We want to help you make your dream move a reality.

A sense of belonging is a central theme in our new TV campaign. We see a scarecrow in a field, who longs for a different life in the idyllic town in the distance. We watch the scarecrow transform into a woman, who turns the dream of exploring that nearby town into a reality.

In our most recent Happy at Home study, you told us having a sense of belonging (where you live) was the most important factor to feeling happy and content where you live. That’s why we’ve played on this idea in our new advert, with our central character yearning for a life in a warm and friendly community.

Feeling a sense of belonging, and having a strong sense of community, were the key indicators of feeling happy in your area, alongside access to nature and green spaces.

In fact, we found that people who had moved in the last year were happier than those who hadn’t, and more than two thirds (69%) who had moved said it was to a different area. Two-thirds of these people (64%) said they were now happier in the new area they lived in.

Making your ‘one day’ move happen today

What do all big tasks have in common? They need to be broken down into smaller, more manageable tasks that can be tackled one by one. This makes big tasks feel smaller, and helps us to set up timeframes for when we need to complete each task.

Moving home is no different, and breaking down the idea of moving into smaller chunks can be a great way to help you set the wheels in motion for your next move.

Whether you’re already crystal clear on what your next move looks like, or still trying to figure out the specifics, a great place to start is by taking a look at the homes currently on the market that tick your ‘one day’ boxes.

If you’re set on living by the coast, but not so much a specific location, a great way for you to start could be to create a custom search around the coastline using our draw a search tool. From here you can explore the different price ranges and property types in each area that fall into your coastal search, and start to edit and hone your search as you define the areas you like most.

Draw A Search

Perhaps you’re drawn to a life with nature on its doorstep — the great outdoors — yet with a commute you could happily manage now that you’re back in the office a few times a week. Finding areas that tick all your location needs, as well as matching your budget, can feel overwhelming – unless you take advantage of Where Can I Live. Add key locations, how far you’d like to live from those locations (specifying which mode of transport you’ll be using), along with your budget and property needs, and all suitable areas will be highlighted for you. Simple!

Once you’re clear on where your one day move will be, create alerts to make sure you find out about new matching properties as soon as they’re added to Rightmove. It’s a great way to keep an eye on movement within a particular area, and to see how prices are changing. It will also mean you’re able to act quickly if your dream home comes along.

Your ‘one day’ could be today.
