Homes with office space in the garden

We’re still seeing a huge number of buyers looking to move right now as people continue to work remotely and commute less.

Large, detached houses which offer an extra room, or two, as well as a garden, are in high demand.

If you’re working from home, even part-time, having a designated space outside of a busy home can be invaluable.

So we’ve taken a look to find homes which offer plenty of space, indoors and out, with potential office space already set up in the garden.

Marlow, Buckinghamshire

This period house spread across three floors in the riverside town of Marlow has plenty of space inside, with four bedrooms and two bathrooms.

There’s also a big garden with a paved entertaining space, but if you follow the footpath further down you’ll find a purpose-built, air-conditioned garden office – perfect for summer.

Stroud, Gloucestershire

Located on the fringes of Stroud town centre, this elegant Victorian four-bedroom family home has plenty of space inside, but outside is pretty amazing, too.

The rear, terraced garden is packed with mature plants and shrubs, several seating areas and a wildlife pond.

And just take a look at the bespoke home office/studio space. It has been fully kitted out with heating and electric, a second phone and internet connection, and to top it all off, bi-folding floor-to-ceiling doors make sure the space is flooded with sunlight.

Yaxley, Norfolk

Quaint thatched cottages don’t come much prettier than this one in the village of Yaxley, Norfolk, which is a great staging point for the beautiful North Norfolk coast.

The four-bedroom cottage has some fabulous original features, including a huge inglenook fireplace and beams.

In the garden, as well as an actual lake, there is a garden annexe with a kitchenette and bathroom, as well as a garage which could easily be repurposed as a workshop.

Barford, near Warwick

Proof that houses don’t need to be huge to include some self-contained space, this two bedroom 500-year-old cottage in Barford, near Warwick, is small but perfectly formed.

The 16th century yeoman’s cottage has an extremely pretty garden, featuring a new annexe building which would be a brilliant space to hide away from the world and get on with work, with the door flung open on sunny days.

Harringay, north London

This five-bedroom Victorian house is set over three floors and offers a huge amount of family living space. The house itself is in immaculate condition, and has just been extended and renovated throughout.

The private garden offers an outdoor, tranquil oasis, decked with a raised platform seating area, perfect for entertaining, with overhanging canopy.

There’s also a smart, contemporary timber office measuring 13ft by 14ft where you can take in the garden views while working.

Telford, Shropshire

Just north of Telford, and 40 miles from Birmingham, this four-bedroom cottage in the village of Great Bolas has a separate office room which opens out to the large garden.

There’s also a decent sized garage workshop, with planning permission for change of use for holiday lets, or the potential to use as a much larger office space, as well as a summer house with power and a phone point already installed.
