This week sees the longest day of the year roll round again, with the promise of those lengthy twilight hours, and (hopefully) balmy all-day sunshine. And what better place to enjoy those extra hours of daylight than in a spot close to the seaside.

We’ve taken a look at the locations across Great Britain with the lowest average house prices, that are also found right on the coast.

So for extended daylight hours with an extra helping of surf (and maybe even a peachy-hued sunset), take a look at some of the homes for sale in the cheapest seaside locations.

The cheapest seaside location: Saltcoats, Ayrshire

Found in Ayrshire, Saltcoats is the cheapest seaside location in Great Britain, with an average house price of £113,395: that’s less than a third of the national average, which is currently £372,812.

Find the Victorian town hall in the centre, as well as the 15th-century Ardrossan Castle and the expansive green space of Eglinton Country Park nearby. Homes include apartments found right on the beach, and Saltcoats’ quiet residential streets are filled with cottages.

The second cheapest seaside location: Girvan, Ayrshire

Another Ayrshire town takes spot two: Girvan. This picturesque coastal town offers views of Ailsa Craig island, and the Firth of Clyde, and property types include traditional sandstone houses, large terraced homes and modern seafront flats. The average house price in Girvan is £121,269.

The third cheapest seaside location: Blackpool, Lancashire

Blackpool is home to the world-famous Tower Ballroom, annual illuminations and eponymous Pleasure Beach. Along with fairground fun, find property types including spacious Victorian townhouses with gardens, and an average house price of £147,244.
