Salcombe, Devon

Salcombe is a sailor’s dream location with perfect conditions for yachting, and a lovely range of restaurants, pubs, and boutiques. It also has a sandy beach, and loads going on year round, from comedy festivals to a regatta.

This contemporary house overlooks the beach, and its sun balcony would be the perfect place to enjoy an early evening cocktail, or two. All the bedrooms are en-suite, the garden is beautiful, and we love the way you can throw open all the sliding doors and bring the outside in.

Tenby, Pembrokeshire

Lively, beautiful Tenby is one of the most popular spots in South Wales, and the gateway to some beautiful bays and beaches. Like Salcombe there’s lots going on year round, and Tenby has some tremendous seafood restaurants.

To be fair this glass and steel Huf Haus, with its infinity freshwater pool overlooking the sea, feels more Californian than Celtic, and its mod cons include a sauna, a lift, solar panels, and air source heating and cooling.

Sandbanks, Dorset

This sandy, half a square mile peninsula has all the perfect beaches, sailing, and sophisticated nightlife you could wish for, and regularly ranks amongst the most expensive places in the world to buy property.

This waterfront house is one of the most lavish on Sandbanks. As well as the beach on the doorstep, the house has a cinema room, gym, indoor pool, and sauna.

The views over Poole Harbour are incredible, and the jetty has lifts for two jet skis making it super-simple to take to the water.

St Margaret’s Bay, Dover

Perched right on the edge of the iconic White Cliffs of Dover, this is one for those who value their privacy, not to mention a spectacular view. The property has more than 11 acres of land and is right at the foot of the Kent Downs so there is open countryside in one direction and open sea on the other.

The estate is set close to where Loch Fyne opens out onto the Firth of Clyde, and as well as a traditional but well-maintained house you have got a swimming pool, walled garden, tennis courts, equestrian facilities, and a boathouse.

You can walk through the grounds to 210 metres of private foreshore from where you could set sail to Eilean Mor, your very own 23 acre private island where, subject to planning, you could build a second house.

Helford Passage, Cornwall

Perched in an elevated position, this house overlooks the pretty sailing village of Helford Passage, which is on south Cornwall’s Roseland Heritage Coast. The village is small, peaceful, and rather perfect, with its pub, boat moorings, access to the South West Coast Path, and small beach. Ideal for getting away from it all.

The house itself has light, modern interiors, wonderful views, and plenty of parking. If you want more space, there is planning permission in place for an extension.
