Selling your home? We get your questions answered by experts

We know that the ongoing coronavirus situation is disrupting home moves across the country, with many buyers, sellers and renters unsure about what to do next.

Should you still press on with the sale of your home? If you’re a buyer or tenant, will it be possible to find a new home if you need to in spite of all that’s happening?

So many of you have got in touch with questions, which is why we hosted a live talk for sellers who already have their home on the market or are looking to do so in the coming weeks.

The session lasted around 45 minutes and included guest speaker and industry expert Mark Hayward. Mark is the CEO of NAEA Propertymark (National Association of Estate Agents), the leading professional body for estate agents responsible for upholding high standards within the industry.

Some of the questions Mark helped us cover include:

  • Should I move right now?
  • Can I move right now?
  • Should I take my home off the market?
  • What do we do to keep things moving if I’m exchanging soon?
  • What happens if someone in my household experiences symptoms on, or close to, moving day?
  • I’ve received an offer from someone that came to view my home before all this started. Can I accept it?

These are uncertain times, but what we can tell you is that if you need to sell, properties like yours are still being seen millions of times on Rightmove every day, and home hunters are still sending enquiries looking to buy their next home.

Whilst if you need to buy, there is a huge amount of stock available.

The main takeaway from the webinar is that communication is more important than ever. The expert advice is to communicate early and with all active parties – from your agent to your solicitor to your removals firm.

We also chatted about the ways that agents are adapting to current conditions so they can keep finding potential buyers for your home and updating you on the interest it’s getting.

So if you have your home currently on the market, or are thinking of doing so in the next few weeks, it’s definitely worth checking this webinar out.

The team talk about useful advice and ideas to help you work together with your estate agent to get the best results in the current circumstances.
