All things bright and beautiful… at Dalton Hall

Back in 1978, filming of ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ started in North Yorkshire, with Dalton Hall used as one of the filming locations. The backdrop to the goings on of James, Siegfried, Tristan and Helen, the historic Grade II Listed manor house, which dates back to the 15th century, sits with views over Holme Dale.

The heart-warming programme about James Herriot finding his way in the Yorkshire Dales, in fictional ‘Darrowby’, used many local settings as Herriot takes us with him on his journey as a vet.

But that’s not the only star link the gorgeous Dalton Hall has – it was featured in a poem by Sir Walter Scott too:

“And as I rode by Dalton Hall, Beneath the turrets high, A maiden on the castle wall, Was singing merrily.”

On the market for £850,000, Dalton Hall, in Richmond, has been renovated and restored to a high standard by the current owners, whilst maintaining its stunning fireplaces, open beams and sash windows.

With gorgeous grounds, its own stables and pony paddock and proximity to local market towns, the home also offers the opportunity to be used as a boutique hotel.

If you fancy owning your very own slice of history, why not have a closer look at the manor now?
