The open spaces of Southwark Park, the good shops, restaurants and traditional pubs of Rotherhithe Village make Surrey Quays a hidden gem of an area, with river and city views. City and Canary Wharf workers can commute via boat or tube from Canada Water (Jubilee Line) and Surrey Quays Station, as well as Rotherhithe Station (Overground). Wapping was once a hive of trading activity, with ships unloading cargo from the farthest corners of the world. Redevelopment of the area started in the 1980s and continues to this day. Many of the area's old warehouses are now highly sought-after apartments, popular with City and Canary Wharf workers. There are superb transport links from various stations in the area, but you can walk to Bank in around 20 minutes.
