  • Introduction

    When we first started trading over 21 years ago we took empty premises on Mutley Plain and had to put photographs of our family's and friend's homes in the window because we had nothing to sell! Since then our team has steadily grown to include some of Plymouths most experienced and respected estate agents. We have chosen each individual especially to complement and enhance our ethos and levels of customer care.

    Ian Mitchell - Company Director
    Setting up Plymouth Homes over 21 years ago as the Company Director, I have officially worked in the property industry now for 30 years! I began my journey into this profession by joining Halifax on a Graduate Recruitment Scheme, where I chose the Estate Agency division as I found it far more exciting and interesting than the banking side. 

    What is the best part of your job?
    I love the conversations with clients confirming that we have an agreed sale on their property and the excitement of buyers collecting the keys for their new home. I also enjoy working with a great team of dedicated professionals that are committed to our values (with a sense of humour that makes every day enjoyable). 

    What makes you good at your job?
    I care. It is really important to me that everything is done to the highest possible standard. I want our clients to be delighted with our service and our team to love working for Plymouth Homes. I am very proud to own a company with such a strong reputation. 

    What is your top tip for selling/letting your property?  
    De-cluttered homes that are well presented, clean and properly lit always get the best interest.

    Jacqui Courtier - Lettings Director
    Through pure determination and working for free for a year for an estate agency, I have now been working as the Lettings Director for over 23 years! Before working with Plymouth Homes, I began in the hospitality trade and worked through a variety of positions such as, a waitress, chambermaid and breakfast cook.

    What is the best part of your job?
    I just love every aspect of this challenging and complex business!

    Where did you buy/rent your first home?
    I rented a bedsit in Greenbank when I first moved to Plymouth, with no heating or hot water! How times have changed. 

    What is your top tip for selling/letting your property? 
    Make sure that your property is in good condition.

    Clive Shawcross - Valuation Manager
    A jack of all trades, I am involved in anything from the initial valuing of properties, to preparing them to market. The best part of my job is that no one day, property or person are the same; the property industry is so varied! I still enjoy the satisfaction and buzz of selling property, even after over 23 years. 

    What makes you good at your job? 
    Determination to work hard and to consistently provide a good job. 

    What is your favourite thing about Plymouth? 
    The coastline and Dartmoor, both of which are right on our doorstep. 

    What are your personal hobbies? 
    When I'm not stood in the cold watching my sons play football, I enjoy mountain biking and anything family orientated.

    Rob Clarke - Sales Negotiator
    The best part of working at Plymouth Homes is seeing first time buyers complete and move in. I have worked at Plymouth Homes as a Sales Negotiator for 9 years, but in the property industry for 23. I did however, work in the Royal Air Force prior to this! 

    What makes you good at your job? 
    Integrity and being thoughtful. 

    What are your personal hobbies? 
    Baking, pottery and cocktails.

    Steven Albon - Sales Co-ordinator
    Working as a Sales Co-ordinator at Plymouth Homes for over 8 years, I believe my knowledge of all aspects of selling and buying property, patience and problem solving makes me good at my job. I spend my personal time listening to blues and rock music and playing my guitar. I have a vast amount of experience in the industry due to working in the property trade for 31 years! 

    How did you get into the property industry? 
    My mother was an Estate Agent and told me about a vacancy in the property industry. 

    What is your favourite thing about Plymouth? 
    Stunning scenery, great restaurants and a fantastic theatre.

    Louise Morrell - Sales Negotiator
    I have worked at Plymouth Homes for the past 13 years as a Sales Negotiator. I applied for the role as I saw it as an exciting opportunity to work for a great company and I have not looked back since! The best part of my job is helping our customers through exciting life changes. 

    What are your personal hobbies? 
    Going to the theatre, upcycling furniture and photography.

    Peverell.

    Richard Taverner - Maintenance Officer
    Prior to working at Plymouth Homes as a Maintenance Officer, I spent 40 years working as an engineer in the automotive manufacturing industry. On deciding that it was time for a change from engineering, I was introduced to Plymouth Homes through a mutual friend and here I am 5 years later! 

    What makes you good at your job? 
    I am very much a people person and have a structured approach to getting the job done. 

    What are your personal hobbies? 
    Classic car restoration; I have a Mini Cooper that I am currently restoring. 

    What is your favourite thing about Plymouth? 
    I have had the opportunity to travel the world throughout my previous career, but Plymouth is my home. It is very satisfying that you can be on Plymouth Hoe looking out to the sea one minute and a short time later on Dartmoor with its fantastic views.

    Although I have only been working for Plymouth Homes for a year as a Property Consultant, I have worked in the industry for 16 years. My family were already in the industry and I started my career as an estate agent too. I like to meet people and understand their requirements in order to find the perfect home for them. 

    What is the best part of your job? 
    When a customer, tenant, client or landlord is really pleased with the service they have received.

    What is your favourite thing about Plymouth? 
    Its close proximity to the beautiful waterfront, Dartmoor and all the beaches. 

    What is your top tip for selling/letting your property? 
    Make sure the property is clean, tidy and inviting to any potential tenant or buyer, so that they are able to imagine themselves living there.

    My role as Administrator at Plymouth Homes involves the general admin and preparation of our properties, including details and Internet advertising. I have now worked within the company for 8 years, previously working in a Solicitors office as a receptionist for 13 years! 

    What makes you good at your job?
    My attention to detail and ability to handle a large workload. 

    What is the best part of your job? 
    I enjoy preparing the marketing as it gives me a chance to look at some lovely houses that we put on the market. 

    What is your top tip for selling/letting your property? 
    Spruce up, de-clutter and don't forget about the outside of your house - kerb appeal is important!
