    Martyn Lednor started his own estate agency business in Sawbridgeworth in 1986. After several years, he decided to move to Bishop's Stortford and opened a small office in 5 Bridge Street, Bishop's Stortford. 

    Andrew Barber, who was a guitarist in a band with him and used to work with him in the 1980's, joined Martyn as a partner in 1995. Together they grew the business to the extent that they outgrew the office and in 2004 moved to a larger office next door, where we still are.

    We had a shock in January 2012 when Martyn unexpectedly passed away after a short illness and consequently, Andrew took over the sole ownership of the business. He has steered it through various economic dramas,  Brexit, and the Covid crisis to where it is today.

    In October 2023, Paul Johnstone has joined the company as a fellow director. Paul used to work for us in 2004 before leaving to spread his wings in other local estate agencies. He has always been interested in owning his own agency and has welcomed this opportunity to work alongside Andrew and eventually take over when Andrew decides to retire in a few years time.

    Andrew Barber - Director
    Andrew has been a local estate agent since 1981. He started with a market leading independent agent in Sawbridgeworth and then had a very successful 15 years working for Prudential Property Services and then Woolwich Property Services n the late 80's and early 90's. 

    In 1995 he joined Lednor & Company as a partner to the late Martyn Lednor, a long standing friend and colleague of his and the reason he started in the property industry in the first place. Over the next 17 years they established a successful and well regarded business. 

    Since losing Martyn to a sudden illness in early 2012, Andrew has taken over the running of the company. He is determined to maintain the good reputation that Lednor & Company have built up by carrying on the work ethic that has got them where they are today.

    Jane Fowler - Sales Negotiator
    Jane started with Lednor & Company in 2019 after a change in her career as she had an eagerness to learn more about the property industry.

    She has become a valuable member of our Sales team and is on hand on a daily basis to offer advice to all of our clients and to show buyers around properties. 
    She is now learning how to value and put properties on the market. She prides herself on giving great customer service and thoroughly enjoys helping people find their forever homes. On her days off she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

    Having grown up in Bishop's Stortford i have a detailed understanding of the local property market.

     I first caught the Estate Agency bug whilst working for Lednor & Company on Saturdays in 2004. I rejoined in 2023 as a Director after gaining significant experience in the interim period working for successful small and large estate agencies in the local area. 

    My goal is to provide an exceptional service that exceeds expectations and ensures our clients return to us as well as recommending us to their family and friends. I am passionate about maintaining the excellent reputation that Lednor & Company has built up over the years by providing a quality, honest and personal service.
