The Second World War had been over for 3 years when, in 1948, Jim Raw-Rees returned to his home town. He set up in practice as an Auctioneer, Estate Agent, Surveyor and Valuer, at premises in Great Darkgate Street , beyond the town clock. Although he soon established himself in business, the early years were not easy. In 1951, as a result of his war service, he was taken seriously ill and was in hospital for a long period.
