Hollytree Walk is surrounded by open countryside so is an ideal base from which to explore, whether on foot, on horseback, or by bike. The development is also just 10 minutes' drive from Highwoods Country Park, which covers 370 acres and includes adventure play areas, a visitor centre, lakes, meadows and woodland.

Colchester Castle - the largest Norman keep in Europe, which was built on the site of a 2,000 year-old Roman temple - together with Castle Park, which surrounds it, can be reached in around five minutes by car. It is also a popular venue for live music, family entertainment and comedy within Charter Hall, which is located on the same site.
