Travellers heading to property in France may want to consider insurance for their tripHolidaymakers heading to property in France or further afield have been advised that travel insurance could save them tens of thousands of pounds.

Sean Tipton, spokesman for ABTA – The Travel Association explains that adequate travel insurance can cover the cost of needing emergency medical treatment.

In some cases, this could involve being flown back to the UK in an air ambulance.

The cost that might be faced without travel insurance in place can reach £16,000 for people staying in property in France and elsewhere in Europe.

Beyond the borders of the continent, the price of an emergency flight home rises to as much as £40,000.

Mr Tipton suggests that insurance is particularly important for gap year travellers.

This is due to the amount of time for which they are typically away from home.

The types of destination selected by gap year travellers – which might be more exploratory or adventurous than typical tourists – may also add to the need for insurance to protect against the financial impact of any mishaps.
