A warm glow comes to property in France as Christmas displays are switched onHomes around the world light up in honour of the Christmas holidays – and property in France is no exception.

In Paris, the official illuminations do not begin until December 1st; however, other towns in the country are beginning their festivities a little sooner than that.

Colmar, in the Alsace region, could be one of the first places where property in France is decked out in seasonal illuminations.

The French Government Tourist Office predicts Colmar's houses will be "brimming with illuminated window displays" from November 25th – a week before the capital turns its own lights on.

At night, meanwhile, a different kind of light show helps to pick out some of the town's architectural gems dating back to the Middle Ages.

Colmar Tourist Office adds that the combination of the architectural lighting and the festive displays produces "a soothing aura of light" that bathes the town centre in a warm glow.
