While England topped the charts in a recent CNN travel survey, property in France could be the best option for people who already live in the UK.
The Consumer Connects survey conducted by CNN's Tourism Advertising Solutions & Knowledge (TASK) Group found more European residents expect to take a holiday to England in 2011 than anywhere else.
Events including the recently announced royal wedding and the build-up to the 2012 Olympic Games are behind the trend.
James Berresford, chief executive of Visit England, says: "I am delighted that these spectacular events are encouraging people to come and explore all that England has to offer."
However, for people who already live in the UK, property in France could be the best option to enjoy a popular holiday destination.
In terms of individual cities, Paris outranked London in the survey, attracting 29.3 per cent of the vote to the English capital's 26.5 per cent.
