A stay in property in France could be fee-free with the right prepaid cardMany holidaymakers heading to property in France might expect a prepaid travel currency card to offer the ability to withdraw funds from a cash machine without incurring a fee.

However, research from Sainsbury's Travel Money indicates that 72 per cent of the prepaid cards currently on the market charge a fee for withdrawals made from cash machines on the continent.

This can reach up to €3 (£2.64) for each withdrawal made – but Sainsbury's points out that different products can charge different amounts.

In some cases – such as its own Cash Passport prepaid card – it is possible to find products which do not charge fees for cash withdrawals.

Couples heading to property in France can also arrange to have a second card assigned at no extra cost so each person has their own.

The financial services provider also provides cash and traveller's cheques in more than 50 currencies for holidaymakers heading away to destinations worldwide.
