Algarve property is set for a further boost due to the increase in flights there from Britain, it has been suggested.

Chief market analyst of investor portal Property Abroad Liam Bailey said the region is set to benefit from the establishment of new easyJet routes to Faro from Glasgow, Liverpool and East Midlands airports.

He said: "Increased tourism means increases in the usage of rental properties; this will put an almost instant increase on the value of Algarve properties in popular tourism areas."

Mr Bailey predicted this would lead to prices in the area rising by ten to 15 per cent per year over the next five to ten years.

While many overseas buyers and holidaymakers will look to the Algarve’s coastal resorts, not all do so, the Daily Telegraph reports.

The paper has noted that many people prefer the quiet lifestyle of the hilly inland areas of the region.
