A new survey of online searches has seen the Portugal property market come out on top as the most popular.

Homesoverseas.com revealed that last month the country jumped from second place to first – overtaking Spain – in terms of viewings of its country page and individual homes.

Italy, France and the US were third, fourth and fifth in the list respectively.

The site noted that this trend has seen the Portugal property market rise from fourth place over the past two months.

It also stated that the number of overall searches for foreign property by Britons showed that their appetite to do so remains "firm".

One attraction that may entice some to buy Portugal property is the golf tourism market.

As well as offering many chances for visitors to play the sport, the country also hosts a number of tournaments, such as the forthcoming Portuguese Open at Estoril, which takes place from April 2nd to 5th.
