Tignes' famous off-piste skiing makes it an ideal place to head to property in France, says a tourism spokeswomanThe end of the peak skiing season does not mean the end of the ideal time to visit property in France, it has been suggested.

A spokeswoman for the tourism office at Tignes Developpement explains that the resort offers year-round skiing, thanks to the Grande Motte glacier.

Even if winter sports enthusiasts are committed to conventional piste skiing, rather than dashing down the frozen surface of a glacier, the season is long in Tignes.

"Because Tignes is a high-altitude skiing area, the snow is guaranteed," the spokeswoman says.

"We can ski all the months of the year; the slopes are already open from September 25th until May 8th."

She adds that the resort is a popular destination for sport-lovers to spend some time in property in France.

The majority of visitors (53 per cent) to the area are from overseas, with most of those travellers arriving from the UK, she says.
