Owning property in France could make sure that Britons are never at a loss for what to give as a wedding present.
Rachel Morgan, editor of Wedding Ideas magazine, claims that more guests are contributing towards a lavish honeymoon, rather than towards homewares or other traditional gifts.
"The biggest trend at the moment is buying stuff for your honeymoon," she says.
"You can buy activities from meals to scuba diving, to sightseeing, to transfers to and from the airport."
Alternatively, Britons who own their own property in France could simply offer the use of it for a week or two by way of a gift.
Wedding Ideas deputy editor Jade Pearson points out that honeymoon contributions are a good option for people who prefer to give a gift than cash.
Ms Morgan adds that, by allowing guests to cover the honeymoon preparations, there need be no compromise for the married couple between the extravagance of their wedding and the trip that follows it.
