A new golf resort has opened in Portugal, featuring a course designed by Spanish legend of the sport Seve Ballasteros.

The new Qunto da Vale resort, on the border between the Algarve and the Spanish region of Costa la Luz, offers a tourist village and a spa hotel, titan-Algarve has said.

Such a development comes in a quiet corner of the region, the firm says, something that could entice Portugal property buyers keen on investing somewhere away from the crowds.

Discussing the course, the man credited with turning Ballasteros’s design ideas into reality Santiago Verastegui said: "Suitable for competition or friendly play, golfers will certainly use all of their clubs and judgment to negotiate the holes, most of which involve water with two tricky island greens."

He added that the course is environmentally-friendly, as there are a third more trees in the area now than before it was constructed.

New figures from Property Abroad show that Portugal property is fourth on the list of countries for properties being viewed and enquired about.
