This month may see the attraction of Algarve property boosted further by with the hosting of a charity tournament at one of its golf courses.

Alamos Golf Club in Portimao will stage the Bader Cup from November 9th to the 13th, raising funds for the Douglas Bader Foundation.

The foundation works on behalf of amputees and is named after the famous British Second World War fighter pilot who carried on flying missions despite the loss of both legs.

Attention focused on the tournament by visitors may help raise the profile of the Algarve’s golf facilities.

Alamos is one of a number of courses in the region, which may particularly interest those investing in Algarve property with the buy-to-let market in mind.

Last month the PGA European Tour website noted that 25 per cent of Portugal’s tourism income is generated by golf.

It stated that 300,000 people a year visit golf courses in the country.
