The Algarve property sector could be in for a major boost with news that budget airline Ryanair is launching new flights to the region from Britain.

Faro Airport will be receiving the services this winter departing from Glasgow, East Midlands and Liverpool.

These services come on top of existing routes being flown from London Stansted, plus the Irish airports at Dublin and Shannon.

Algarve Promotion Bureau president Antonio Pina commented that he hoped the new batch of flights will "not only draw in crowds for the summer period, but highlight the appeal of the region during the non-summer months".

The region has already had a recent boost which may bring more tourists into contact with the Algarve property market.

It came with confirmation from Formula One that the newly-built Autodromo Internacional race circuit will host a test in December.

Among the teams confirmed as taking part is McClaren, which may give spectators their first sight of the car the new world champion Lewis Hamilton will be using to defend his title next year.
