Home above the bookshop from iconic film, Notting Hill, is for sale

Notting Hill is a London area known for its annual carnival, world-famous antiques market and of course, Richard Curtis’s namesake romcom.

Much of the 1999 film was shot on the bustling streets of this west London postcode, where Hugh Grant’s floppy-haired, bookshop-owning character William Thacker wooed megastar Anna Scott, played by Julia Roberts. But not before infamously spilling an entire cup of coffee down her pristine white tee.

And now, the flat found above the film’s treasured travel bookshop – which still has its famed blue frontage – is for sale. It’s found right on Portobello Road: one of the capital’s most well-known streets, and home to the vibrant market-stall bustle.

This showstopping pad is on the market with estate agent Strutt & Parker. Shauna Walsh, Senior Associate Director at Strutt & Parker in the local area, says, “You don’t get more ‘Notting Hill’ than living on Portobello Road, and also living above the world-famous book shop from the neighbourhood’s namesake film.”

As well as laying claim to a piece of London’s silver screen royalty, the new owners will be able to enjoy a beautifully decorated, light-filled home, which is set over three floors. There are three bedrooms, with the master bedroom having a unique porthole window, and a sleek en-suite bathroom.

The open-plan living space leads out onto a decked sun-trap terrace, with views over the neighbouring rooftops.
